Obtaining Birth Certificates
If the Birth was registered in Scotland (between 1855-2010) you may obtain an extract by one of the following methods:
- by phone using credit/debit card
- by post
- personal visit
The fee for an extract is 15.00 - any subsequent extracts of the same entry obtained at the same time are £10.00. The fee for an extract within the first month of registration is £10.00
In order to obtain an extract it is helpful to know:
- full name at birth
- date and place of birth
- mother's maiden surname

Monday: 9.15am - 12 noon and 2.00pm - 4.30pm.
Tuesday - Friday: 9.15am - 12 noon and 2.00pm - 3.30pm.

Cheques and Postal Orders should be made payable to Glasgow City Council. All payments outwith United Kingdom should be in sterling in the form of an international money order or banker's draft.
