Obtaining Death Certificates
If the Death was registered in Glasgow, between 1855 - present, you may obtain an extract by one of the following methods:
- personal visit
- by post
- by phone using credit/debit card
It may also be possible to obtain a death certificate registered anywhere in Scotland (1855-2004). Further information can be obtained by contacting Registration Office (Phone: 0141 287 7678)
Personal visit
Extracts may be obtained in person over the public counter. The cost is £13.50. Any extract from the current year costs £8.50. In order to obtain an extract it is helpful to know:
- full name at death
- date and place of death
- date of birth of deceased
By post

Cheques and Postal Orders should be made payable to Glasgow City Council. The cost is 13.50 per extract plus postage. Extracts from the current year cost £8.50 plus postage.
All payments outwith United Kingdom should be in sterling in the form of an international money order or banker's draft.
