If you will be arranging a burial, the law allows the funeral to take place without the death having to be registered beforehand. It is possible for you to carry out the funeral and register the death later. However, if you will be arranging a cremation, it is necessary for the death to be registered before that can take place. Your undertaker should be able to advise you further regarding this.
At the time of registration you will be given the following:

(b) a special certificate for any dealings that you may have for Jobcentre Plus/Social Security Office, and

Any additional certificates have to be requested and paid for. The Registrar will be pleased to advise you regarding your needs and the current fee
