Carers - Support Services

Contact details on the carer service within your area

Carers centres/projects in Glasgow have been developed to support carers in their caring role by providing support and assistance through the following services:

Information and Advice

Experienced workers deliver this in different ways.  For example, through information events, newsletters, leaflets and individual discussions.  Information can be provided in alternative formats and languages. If you wish to contact us online see contact details on the carer service within your area.

Money Matters

Centres/projects will provide a full check on welfare benefits entitlement and advice on other money matters.  This can include help with completing forms.

Emotional Support

Centres/projects offer emotional support on a one to one basis and/or in a group.

Short Breaks

Centres/projects will provide a flexible, appropriate and reliable service working in partnership with other providers to allow carers to attend training courses, meetings or one off events.

Having a Voice

All centres/projects have a role in ensuring that carers views, either individually or collectively, are heard at all levels.  Groups and forums are supported and projects can signpost carers on to local or national consultative and representative organisations, for example, Glasgow Carers Network or Carers Scotland.

Training

Training is available to support carers to care and to maintain their own health and well-being in areas such as health promotion and personal development opportunities.  This is done, where possible, in response to individual needs.
