Gardening teams carry out a wide range of tasks from simple grass cutting and tidying of gardens to large scale landscaping projects. The beneficiaries of this service are the same categories of individuals and groups as those who benefit from the other Community Service work.
Community Service has been involved in three large-scale landscaping projects in the past year.
- Allerton, a Church of Scotland hostel for individuals with mental health problems
- Riddrie Allotments. A disused allotment was converted into an area enclosed by fencing and featuring pathways, monoblocking, patios, raised garden areas, a gazebo and greenhouses. This allotment is for the use of clients of Elmvale Resource Centre which caters for individuals with learning difficulties. This area is now available for individuals from Elmvale Resources Centre to learn horticultural skills and provides a relaxing pleasant environment
- Dick Stewart Hostel is a hostel for offenders subject to various statutory orders. Considerable work was carried out to landscape a large area at the rear of the property.
