Probation orders are one of a range of disposals available to courts when considering offending behaviour. Probation orders are supervised by social work staff and often contain conditions which offenders must meet in order to comply with the order. The court can make a probation order that would place an offender under social work supervision.
This disposal is only available for offences committed before 1st February 2011. For those offences committed from this date, a Community Payback Order is now available.
