Glasgow Addiction Services are working hard to ensure that the services offered to women are non judgemental, supportive and empowering.
We aim to help to address the underlying issues, which can often affect women, such as violence and abuse, parenting issues and pressures associated with caring responsibilities. Because some of these issues are personal and sensitive we offer women the choice to be supported by a female Addiction Worker, can provide women only programmes and will arrange convenient local appointments as necessary.
We know that women who have addiction problems can feel
worried about having involvement from Services when they have children. We strive in Glasgow Addiction Services to keep families and lone parents together with their children. For pregnant women and those with children we provide an Addiction Worker who has a special remit to offer addiction treatment and interventions, counselling, group work, parenting advice, benefits advice, training or finding a job.
