Children lookedafter in foster homes has risen dramatically. We need more foster families than ever before.

Fostering can be a short-term way of offering a child a home until they can return to their own parents. However some children, sadly, cannot return home but still feel part of their own families and wish to continue to have contact with them.

The length of time children stay with foster families varies from a few weeks or months to a number of years.

We need foster carers who are warm, confident people who can help children feel safe and bring some stability into their lives.

Foster carers have a vital role to play in giving children in care the best possible start in life. We especially need more people to foster children over eight.

Anyone can apply to become a foster carer as long as they have the qualities, skills and experience required to look after children in care.
