Glasgow City Council provides a number of Family Centres across the City.
The Council works together with Health and voluntary sector service providers in the City to provide integrated centres for children and their families.
These Centres are community-based and have three key themes:
-
improving child health particularly in relation to special needs and disability
-
promoting good parenting and better parent child relationships through programmes of family support
-
Community Learning for all ages
Family Centres are located in Ruchazie and Castlemilk. Plans are being developed for a Centre in Drumchapel. Usually these services can be accessed via your local social work office. Apart from initial information and advice it is usually necessary to be assessed for a service. There is no charge for assessment, but for some services there may be a charge. This normally depends upon your income.
