The Homeless Persons Team provides social work services for people who are homeless. It
accepts referrals for people who are:
Single Homeless People who are not currently receiving a social work service from another team (or within the previous six months in the case of 16-17 year olds) and who are:
- hostel dwellers or
- in Bed and Breakfast accommodation or
- roofless
Homeless Families who are not currently receiving a social work service from another team or who have not received a service within the last six months, and who are:
- roofless, having arrived in Glasgow from outwith the city boundary, or
- in Bed and Breakfast accommodation
Homeless individuals and families placed in temporary furnished accommodation should access Social Work Services from the local social work office. However there may be exceptional circumstances that will warrant negotiation with the Homeless Persons Team.
Individuals in Placement requesting Social Work assistance
There are circumstances where individuals placed by the Homeless Persons Team in residential settings subsequently seek Social Work Services assistance after a case has been closed. If the individual has been placed on a permanent basis any subsequent Social Work Services referrals should be directed to the local social work office. If the individual has been placed in a continuous care placement the Homeless Persons Team should respond to any social work referral in respect of request for re-assessments.
Unaccompanied Children Seeking Asylum who are not already receiving a social work service from another team.
The Homeless Persons Team also has a role in supporting people moving through the hostel closure programme.
