Care Information Scotland Website
Care Information Scotland is a telephone and online service available in Scotland for people seeking information about community care services for older people
Care Inspectorate (formerly Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland) regulate, inspect and support improvement of care and social work services across Scotland for the benefit of the people who use them. If you are unhappy with the standard of care offered by social work services or other care services then you can complain to the Care Inspectorate as well as making a complaint to us.
Care & Repair services offer independent advice and assistance to help homeowners repair, improve or adapt their homes so that they can live in comfort and safety at home in their own community. The service is available to owner-occupiers and private tenants who are aged 60 or over or who have a disability.
Community Transport - Glasgow's Evening Visitor Service
If you live within Glasgow City then you can access this free door to door service to the following hospitals:
- Glasgow Royal Infirmary
- Stobhill Hospital
- Gartnavel General
- Western Infirmary
- Victoria Infirmary
- Southern General
This service is free and operates between 6pm - 10pm Monday to Friday
Department for Work and Pensions - DWP

The Department for Work and Pensions is there to promote opportunity and independence for all through modern, customer-focused services. They aim to help people to achieve their potential through employment, so that they are able to provide for their children and to work and save for secure retirement.
Diabetes UK - Scotland Careline
Working for people with diabetes, Diabetes UK operates the Diabetes UK Scotland Careline, which provides support and information to people with diabetes as well as friends, family and carers. Call them on 0845 120 2960.
Direct Payments For Care
A direct payment for care is money paid by the local authority directly to a person whom it has assessed as needing care services. The local authority makes the payment instead of arranging services.
Elderly Accommodation Counsel (EAC)
EAC offers a range of services to older people, their families and carers, and to all who work with and for them. They provide a free advice and information service to older people, their families and advisors.

HousingCare.org offers a wide range of information to help older people identify ways of improving their home environment, plus details of all UK sheltered housing and care homes.
NHS 24
NHS 24 works in partnership with local NHS Boards out-of-hours services to provide patients with health advice and help when GP practices are closed.

NHS inform is Scotland's national health information service that provides the public, patients and carers with a wide range of quality assured health and wellbeing information
Osteoporosis and Falls Prevention Services
The NHS have developed a range of services to help people prevent falls and to help them recover after they have had a fall.
Rights Advice Scotland
Older person's benefit calculator
Rights Advice Scotland in conjunction with the Welfare Rights Teams of Glasgow City Council and Angus Council have developed an older person's benefit calculator. It will calculate entitlement to Pension Credit, Housing Benefit, and Council Tax Benefit for people aged 60 or over. You can also use this site to request a home visit regarding Pension Credit, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit.
SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Air Forces, Association)
If you, or a person you support, has served any length of time, 1 day or more, in the armed forces and require assistance with adaptations, heating, clothing, housing, beds, bedding, etc. which social work cannot fund, or fully fund, then the SSAFA may be able to help. Contact them on 0141 427 2804 or Glasgow@ssafa.org.uk with proof of connection with the armed forces. The SSAFA also assist in benefit claims and OT referrals.
Social Care Ideas Factory
Social Care Ideas Factory exists to identify, represent, promote and safeguard the interests of voluntary organisations, private care companies and registered social landlords providing social care in Glasgow, in order that they can maximise the support they offer to the people who use their services.
The Dementia Services Development Centre
The Centre works to spread research and good practice about care for people with any type of dementia including Alzheimers disease, multi-infarct dementia, Lewy body dementia, vascular dementia and alcohol-related dementia. They offer information about design, activities, nutrition, day care, acute care, communication, challenging behaviour, assistive technology and spiritual care.

The Royal Associtation for Disability Rights (Radar) believes that everyone who experiences ill-health, injury or disability should have the same freedom and independence as other citizens and an important part of that freedom is having the confidence to go out, knowing that public toilets will be available, accessible and will meet your needs. The Scottish Government - The House key
The House Key aims to provide good quality information to the public about services to help them in their day to day living at home. These are called 'housing support services'. Services listed in The House Key are provided by Local Authorities as well as independent organisations. They include specialist services as well as many services available to anyone who needs them.
