Deaf, Deafblind and Hearing Impaired People

Specialist workers support people with a hearing loss by providing advice, information, advocacy and by maximising benefits. They can also assess, provide and install a wide range of assistive devices for people in their homes. They may be able to give advice regarding areas such as education, training, employment, health, the voluntary sector or any other service.

People wishing to access the services provided by Social Work Service’s Hearing Impairment Team need to have been assessed by an audiologist and have been provided with a hearing-aid by the audiologist before they should be referred to the hearing impairment team.

Access to an Audiologist will normally be through your GP or doctor. Help with finding your local audiologist is available through the NHS website.
