This booklet has been written to give you information about your rights and responsibilities while you are being looked after away from home.
There are a lot of reasons why children and young people need to be looked after away from home. It is the responsibility of Glasgow City Council to make sure you are looked after properly while you are away from home. The Council Service that you are most likely to know about is Social Work, although there are other Council services which also have responsibility for you such as Education.
The information in this booklet will hopefully be useful to you wherever you are looked after - in a residential unit or school, a foster placement, in secure accommodation or other sorts of accommodation arranged by the Council's Social Work Services.
This booklet has not been able to cover every situation you might find yourself in, but there are contact numbers in the booklet and at the back if you need more information on anything else, or have questions on something you read in the booklet.
Remember - you have a right to information.
