Care and Support

This area of the site provides information on services which aim to:

  • ensure the safety and protection of vulnerable adults, young people and children
  • support individuals and families to maintain independence and to exercise choice about the way they live their lives

Glasgow City Council works in partnership with other organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors, for example NHS Glasgow and Communities Scotland. We strive to provide high quality services which have the public's confidence. To achieve this, the City Council and its partners undertake consultation with individuals, groups, citizens and communities about the services provided. We use this information to make improvements to our services and welcome comments.

The Social Work Inspection Agency (SWIA) has published its Report on the recent Performance Inspection of Glasgow City Council Social Work Services.

The Care Commission regulates all adult, child and independent healthcare services in Scotland.  From April 2008, the Care Commission will introduce a new grading scheme based on the quality of the care provided.
