Community Safety Patrol Officers (CSPOs) are walking the streets in areas of Glasgow to help make them a safer and more pleasant place to live.
They are getting to know people and the problems faced by the community and will take appropriate action.
The CSPOs patrol on foot in local neighbourhoods from 10am until late at night
They are not a substitute for local police officers but complement police activities and talk to officers about problems in the area.
CSPOs are not just about reducing crime or fear of crime – but can act as the “eyes and ears” of local agencies and our services in the community:
They also:
- Report graffiti, litter, fly-posting and fly-tipping, vandalism, dog fouling and other environmental issues.
- Help reduce the problems of abandoned vehicles
- Help tackle antisocial and nuisance behaviour
- Provide advice and information
With their links to agencies the CSPOs may just be able to get things moving with whoever is responsible for improving things.
Don’t forget the CSPOs are there to get things done!
