Air Quality Monitoring Stations in Glasgow

 

 

Glasgow City Council operates air quality monitoring stations at various locations throughout the city. These measures a variety of parameters including NO2, PM10. SO2, Ozone and hydrocarbons.  These are compared with the national air quality objectives.

On this page there are several images portraying a few of these stations. Adjacent to each image is a graph giving an overview of the concentration of NO2 and PM10 for the last 3 years.

 

Glasgow Centre

Glasgow Centre AQ Station

 

 

Glasgow Centre Air Quality Monitoring Station is part of the Automatic Urban and Rural Network (AURN) and is operated on behalf of DEFA by Glasgow City Council.

 

It is located in St Enoch Square and monitors nitrogen oxides, particulates, Ozone and sulphur dioxide.

Battlefield AQ Monitoring Station

 

Battlefield Air Quality Monitoring Station is located at the junction of Battlefield Road and Holmea Road in the city's south side. It was established in 2005 to measure nitrogen oxides and particulates. Click on the link for current air quality data at the site

Background AQ Monitoring station

Air Quality Monitoring Station was established as a site to measures background air quality in a rural environment. It is located just outside the boundary of the city at Waulkmillglen reservoir. Glasgow Kerbside

Glasgow Kerbside is located at the start of Hope Street in the City Centre. It is operated by Glasgow City Council as part of the Automatic Urban and Rural Network for the Central Government agency DEFRA. It measures NO2, Particulates and hydrocarbons. Glasgow Chambers

Glasgow Chambers

Glasgow City Chambers is located on the 2nd floor of Glasgow City Chambers in Cochrane Street and samples air from a height of approximately 8m. The station monitors NO2 and Carbon monoxide. The site is operated as part of the Automatic Urban and Rural Network operated by the Council on behalf of DEFRA.Click on the link for current monitoring data.

In addition, three new air quality stations were established in 2007 at Abercromby Street, Nithsdale Road/Pollokshaws Road and Broomhill Cross. As soon as monitoring data is available this will published.
