Contaminated Land
The legacy of the past prosperous industrial era has resulted in concerns over sites in Glasgow which may be contaminated and the vast amounts of vacant and derelict land within the City.
Land and Environmental Services aim to protect public health and the environment by working to ensure that contaminated land is remediated to a suitable standard. This is undertaken through the statutory provisions of Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and also through our role as consultees in the planning process.
Glasgow City Council is statutorily required to draw up an inspection strategy to deal with contaminated land in Glasgow.
