Public Toilet refurbishment programme

The Council are currently embarking upon a programme to refurbish existing public toilet facilities and provide additional provision. As part of this long term commitment, a contract has been entered with a company, Healthmatic Ltd, for the supply and maintenance of the new toilets, for a period of 15 years.

To date the contract has completed the refurbishment of the existing sites at West Campbell Street, St Vincent Place and Stevenson Street, and provided new Automatic Public Convenience facilities at Collins Street to replace the existing Cathedral Square public toilet facility. Work is also continuing on the development of a new public convenience at Bothwell Street in the vicinity of Central Station. It is envisaged that this facility will be opened in the Spring of 2010.

The contract also includes a detailed maintenance schedule and facilities shall be manually inspected and cleaned on a daily basis to ensure they are in pristine condition and stock is replenished.

A 20p charge will apply for using the facilities.
