Why must we recycle?

 

It is estimated that household waste production will continue to rise at a rate of 2% each year between now and 2020. Long term this is not sustainable.
The amount of waste Scotland produces is increasing. Glasgow City Council disposed of more than 300,000 tonnes of waste to landfill in 2005/06.

As we are now driven by European and National recycling targets, we must look at alternative ways to dispose of our waste.
