Blue Bins – Kerbside Collection
Single Properties
|
Glasgow City Council has now provided 101,000 households with a 240litre blue wheeled recycling bin.
Using the blue bin enables YOU to recycle YOUR Papers, Cans, Tins and Plastic Bottles.
The collection service operates on a 4 weekly cycle with a recycling calendar provided to inform You of the collection dates.
If you do not have one or have misplaced your copy please contact the Council Customer Care Centre. |

|
As this is a kerbside collection the blue bin must be placed on the kerbside for 7am on the scheduled date.
Please place your Papers, Cans, Tins and Plastic Bottles loose in your blue bin as carrier bags can't be recycled. Please also remember to rinse out your plastic bottles and cans as much as you can and please remove all bottle tops.
Due to advancements in our Paper Recycling Partners pulping process and some changes in the printing inks by Yell we are pleased to inform you that the inclusion of Yellow pages and other telephone directories in your Blue Bin is now permitted.
Visit our Frequently Asked Questions page for more details on Blue Bins and recycling.

Blue Bins – Backcourt Recycling
Flats and Tenements
Further funding has been awarded from the Scottish Government to roll out a blue bin recycling service to tenement properties across the city during 2007/08.
 |
We aim to facilitate over 100,000 households via this new recycling service.
The backcourt service operates differently from the single properties recycling service.
A reusable bag will be delivered to your home to store and transfer your Papers, Cans and Plastic Bottles to the blue bins. |
| Two 240litre blue lockable wheeled bins will be provided per close and will be situated within the backcourt area. The recycling squad will collect the bins from the backcourt and return the bins once emptied. The collection service operates on a fortnightly basis, separately from your general waste collection. |
 |
The collected Papers from the blue bin service will be recycled into new paper products, cans & tins will be recycled into Fridges & Freezers and Plastic Bottles will be recycled into Fleece Jackets and Blue Recycling Bins.
Residents who do not currently have this service can take materials to a Recycling Point or Civic Amenity Site
