Waste Transfer Stations
Glasgow City Council operates four Waste Transfer Stations:
- Dawsholm
- Shieldhall
- Polmadie
- Easter Queenslie
These Transfer Stations are used as a base for the operation of refuse collection vehicles and street sweeping operations in addition to waste disposal.
Once collected the waste is brought to a transfer station and tipped onto the reception hall floor, where it undergoes a visual check for any dangerous or hazardous materials that may be present.
Once this has been completed, depending on location, the waste is then either baled and loaded onto a curtain side trailer or loaded directly into an ejection trailer for transfer via a prescribed route to the landfill site at Cathkin 2.
If you require further information on this or any other aspect of waste disposal in Glasgow please contact the Council Access Centre either by phone or email.
