Timescale:

Phase 1 separately funded, on site and due for completion in early 2010 (see Oatlands). Phase 2 will be tendered in May 2009, with a site start in early 2010 and road opening in early 2012. Phase 3 will be tendered in Aug 2009 and will be for a design and cost only. The construction start of Phase 3 is yet to be determined.

Budget:

£80 - £85m, which includes all land, fees, statutory process costs and work for phases 2 and 3. Note, the Camlachie Overflow Sewer (Phase 2) will now be incorporated into EERR Phase 2 and will be funded separately (via DRS).

Target: Provide a transport route from the M74 completion at Polmadie through the East End of Glasgow to the M80/M8 junction at Provan Road
Status: Planning consent granted 2005. Draft compulsory purchase order published 2006.
Activity: The development of this road complements the M74 completion. It will:-
  • Facilitate the regeneration of derelict land;
  • Improve pedestrian routes;
  • Improve vehicular access and parking to the Forge shopping centre and retail park and Celtic Park;
  • Relieve traffic congestion; and
  • Improve road safety and reduce road accidents.
