Activity:

The City Council and partners submitted to Sportscotland, a proposal for a National Indoor Sports Arena incorporating Sportscotland Headquarters based at Dalmarnock in August 2004.

 

The proposal is to provide:

  • an indoor athletic arena and 3 court halls with seating for 5,000 spectators and associated training and support facilities;
  • office accommodation for Sportscotland Headquarters and Sports Governing Boards;
  • outdoor 5/ 7-a-side floodlit playing pitches; and
  • locational support network that meets Business in Sport guidelines.
Concept:

The proposal developed in association with Scottish Athletics and other Sports Governing Bodies is to establish a venue to develop sport at a local, regional and national level, to attract international events elite athletes  to realise social and economic objectives through sport clubs and individuals.
