Film City Glasgow is Scotland’s newest film, TV and post production facility. Based in the former B-listed Govan Town Hall, on completion, it will house a range of creative companies from the media and film industry.
The building is being converted in three phases. The facility will be leased from Glasgow City Council by Film City Glasgow, which is spearheaded by Sigma Films, who will then manage it.
The facility will comprise studio/build space, workshop areas, a range of production accommodation and state of the art post-production facilities. It will also include fully equipped high-definition edit suites and Scotland’s first Dolby Premier sound production studio.
Film City Glasgow will create over 100 jobs involved in film, TV production, graphics, animation, web design, music and design. The project is situated at the heart of a major new business district and close to Pacific Quay – Scotland’s digital media campus.
Phase 1 and 2are now completed. The first phase saw the completion of office, reception and conference rooms, while the second created the specialist post production facilities. Phase three is due to be competed in December 2007 and will provide accommodation for small companies within the creative media sector. |
