Activity:

Occupying the site of the former Queens Dock, a major make over of Scotland’s national venue is planned.

It will see the refurbishment of the SECC’s facilities and the creation of a 12,500 seated indoor arena so it can continue to host national and world trade conferences, events and concerts a new public square onto the Clyde.

The arena is the first major development to be undertaken in the SECC’s QD2 masterplan which has the potential to inject £50 million a year into Glasgow’s economy and create 1,500 jobs.

These proposals are reflected in the approved masterplan, and together comprise elements including multi-storey car parks, residential area to the west of the SECC, a civic square in front of the Clyde Auditorium, river pontoons, and new pedestrian and public corridor.
