The environmental protection element of Land and Environmental Services has responsibility for maintaining and monitoring the environment of Glasgow and is concerned with maintaining and improving standards of public health, environmental cleanliness, food safety, occupational health and safety, and consumer protection.

 

The enforcement of legislation throughout the City is carried out via:

  • public health monitoring
  • the inspection of premises for food safety, health and safety and consumer protection purposes
  • scientific sampling and analysis
  • calibration and testing 

 

High standards of public health are encouraged and the well-being of citizens is provided for by offering the following: 

 

  • consumer and general enforcement advice
  • refuse collection
  • waste disposal
  • street cleansing service
  • landfill site maintenance
  • noise and pest control measures

 

 

Land and Environmental Services actively seeks out working partnerships where the co-ordination of service delivery with similar providers can lead to a better service for customers and stakeholders.
