All information is entered into a bespoke customer relationship management system and is immediately available to staff in the LES Public Health section, thereby minimising any potential delays incurred through the transfer of information between departments.
Every year over 4000 complaints are made to Land and Environmental Services regarding public health issues. These include issues such as:
• Dirty Houses
• Odours
• Dampness
• Water Penetration
• Defective Drainage
• Air Quality
• Radiation
• Contaminated Land
• Vehicle Emissions
• Infectious Diseases
These complaints are mainly investigated under the auspices of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and other legislation. A statutory nuisance under the Environmental Protection Act may exist where conditions are particularly offensive.
