Land and Environmental Services (LES) Cleansing & Recycling

All calls relating to the service provided by LES Cleansing & Recycling are now answered by Customer Service Advisers within the Access Centre.   The transfer of call handling to the Access Centre is part of the drive by Glasgow City Council to provide a robust and efficient service to the residents of Glasgow.

The Access Centre advisers answer the calls on behalf of Cleansing and Recycling.  The calls cover a range of issues including requests for:

Cleansing

  • Bulk uplifts
  • Domestic & commercial refuse
  • General street sweeping
  • Litter complaints

Recycling

  • Blue/brown bins
  • Green/black boxes
  • General info regarding public recycling sites.

The Access Centre advisers will obtain all the relevant information required to action the request.  This information is then passed to the appropriate LES Cleansing or Recycling depot.  The depot staff then take responsibility for actioning the request.

The Access Centre is also able to track the progress of requests through to completion.  This means that the Access Centre is able to provide updates to citizens if they call to enquire about the progress of their request.
