Charitable trusts giving grants to assist with Fuel Debts

 

Details of two charitable Trust funds which help people primarily with their energy debts but also with other household bills and costs such as telephone arrears, rent arrears, new household items, bankruptcy deposits.  The payments are grants, not loans, and do not have to be repaid!

The Scottish Gas Energy Trust is the first national Trust Fund. Receiving donations from Scottish Gas, it seeks to help those most in need with gas and electricity debt.  The Trust has awarded over £1.5 million in total to over 4,000 individuals since its start in November 2004.

 

Who can apply to the trust?
Any current domestic customer of British Gas or Scottish Gas.

 

What can I apply for?
The Trust can help people through giving grants to:

  •      Reduce or clear arrears of gas or electricity debt
  •      Help with other essential household bills or costs

 

The EDF Energy Trusthttp://www.edfenergytrust.org.uk/
Similarly the EDF Energy Trust is aimed primarily at clearing energy debt but in exceptional circumstances can help with other bills and costs.

 

Who can apply to the trust?
Any current domestic customer of EDF Energy including the brands  formerly known as London Energy, SWEB Energy and Seeboard Energy.

 

What can I apply for?
The Trust can help people through giving grants to:

  • Reduce or clear debts of gas or electricity
  • Help with other essential household bills or costs
