If you or your partner are receiving the lowest rate care component of DLA you could also be eligible for:

 

  • Disability Premium (Income Support, Jobseeker's Allowance, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit)
  • Christmas Bonus
  • No non-dependent deductions from Housing Benefit/Council Tax Benefit
  • Home energy efficiency scheme grant
  • an increased rate of Working Tax Credit

 

If you or your partner are receiving the middle or highest rate care component of DLA or Attendance Allowance you or your carer could be eligible for:

  • the above advantages of the lower rate care component
  • Severe Disability Premium (Income Support, Jobseeker's Allowance, Pension Credit, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit)
  • Enhanced Disability Premium (Income Support, Jobseeker's Allowance, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit)
  • Carers Premium (Income Support, Jobseeker's Allowance, Pension Credit, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit)
  • Severe Mental Impairment and/or Carers disregard (where appropriate) for Council Tax Benefit 
  • Carers Allowance (get further advice before claiming) 
  • an increased rate of Working Tax Credit


If you or your partner are receiving the highest rate care component of DLA and receive the relevant services or funding from Social Work Services you could also be eligible for the Independent Living Fund.


If you or your partner are receiving the lower rate mobility component of DLA you could be eligible for:

  • Disability Premium (Income Support, Jobseeker's Allowance, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit)
  • Christmas Bonus
  • Home energy efficiency scheme grant

 

If you are receiving the higher rate mobility component you could be eligible for:

 

  • the above advantages of the lower rate mobility component  
  • exemption from road tax
  • a Blue Badge
  • the Motability Scheme

 

Payments in respect of children


If you are receiving any rate of the care or mobility components of DLA in respect of a child you will be eligible for the Disabled Child Premium in your Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit. You may also be entitled to a Disabled Child element in the Child Tax Credit.

If you are receiving the middle rate care component of DLA in respect of a child you may be eligible for the Carers Premium in your Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit.

 

If you are receiving the Highest rate care component of DLA in respect of a child you may be eligible for the Enhanced Disability Premium in your Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit.

You may also be entitled to a Severe Disabled Child element in the Child Tax Credit.
