Keeping Glasgow Moving-Glasgow’s Local Transport Strategy 2007-2009
The new transport strategy for Glasgow has recently been completed.
'Keeping Glasgow Moving' Glasgow's Local Transport Strategy (LTS) 2007-2009 has been developed after a very successful public consultation exercise. More than 6,000 people took the time to respond to a transport questionnaire and input from other Council services and interest groups was also invaluable in developing Glasgow's new transport policy.
The consultation can be summarised by:
- The distribution of a questionnaire, with over 6,000 responses.
- A series of stakeholder workshops with over 100 attendees from a wide range of interest groups.
- The distribution of a draft strategy document resulting in 76, mainly positive, responses.
- Inter Council Service topic working groups.
Feedback from this consultation process has provided a critical input to the final draft strategy. Using the information gained from the consultation the key issues for an improved transport network were then identified and the overall aims and objectives of the strategy were formulated.

Glasgow's transport vision is to provide a world class transport system which is safe, reliable, integrated and accessible to all citizens and visitors and also supports the physical, social, economic, cultural, environmental and economic regeneration of the City.
In order to achieve this, the LTS contains a balanced strategy, which concentrates on promoting and enhancing sustainable transport modes such as walking, cycling and public transport, with limited investment in roads infrastructure to tackle key congestion points, provide essential links to development areas and provide links to enable public transport to provide effective circumferential services.
