Parking Controls Survey

The views have been sought of residents and businesses on parking difficulties in the northwest of the city and Langside, Battlefield & Mount Florida.

This consultation is closed and we are in the process of collating the responses.

Introduction

Some concerns have been expressed about parking difficulties being experienced in areas to the northwest of the City, and in the Langside, Battlefield and Mount Florida areas in the southside (see maps).

This could be for many reasons:-

  • Displacement of vehicles into your area, as a result of parking controls being introduced in adjacent areas
  • Proximity to main shopping and entertainment areas
  • Proximity to train and underground stations
  • Proximity to hospitals, particularly those where on-site parking charges apply
  • Proximity to many sort of attractions, universities, colleges, museums, leisure centres, places of worship etc.

Further Information

Answers to some frequently asked questions are available here.

Please note that at this time the Council has no plans to introduce parking controls in those areas.  Consideration of such controls, and the most appropriate method of implementing such measures, would be given only if a majority of residents in the area indicated that they were in favour of parking controls being introduced.

Please also note that should a majority of residents favour the introduction of some form of parking control, statutory consultation would be required before controls could be implemented. The results of the questionnaires will be analysed and this would mean that it would be later this year before any such statutory consultation could commence.
