Route Description
The corridor extends from the city centre on Garscube Road, Possil Road, Saracen Street to Balmore Road to Skirsa Street passing through Hamiltonhill, Possil, Milton and Lambhill.
Implementation
Works on the Balmore Road Streamline corridor were substantially completed in May 2006.
The main elements of the scheme comprise:-
- 1290 metres of peak hour bus, taxi and cycle lanes operational Monday to Saturday from 7:00am to 9:30am and 4:00pm to 6:30pm:
- Saracen Street northbound Possil Road to Killearn Street
- Saracen Street northbound Killearn Street to Stoneyhurst Street
- Balmore Road southbound Balmore Place to Hawthorne Street
- Balmore Road southbound Haywood Street to Broadholm Street
- Balmore Road northbound Claddens Street to Kings Place
- Balmore Road southbound Knapdale Road to Ashgill Road
- Balmore Road northbound Strathmore Road to Knapdale Road
- improved access to bus stops
- amended waiting and loading restrictions
- improved pedestrian facilities
Initial Review
The initial review of the measures implemented is ongoing for this corridor. It is envisaged that it will be circulated for stakeholder comments in April 2008.
