Future Streamline Routes

The Council has received funding from Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) to development a number of routes to improve bus movements and upgrade services to Streamline standards. This will include the provision of bus lanes and priority at traffic signals. Bus stop facilities will also be improved by introducing bus stop clearways, high access kerbs and RTPI where feasible.

The initial Streamline strategy was to treat individual routes served by a high frequency service on an end to end basis. The future strategy is to tackle areas in Zones which will then often link into the individual routes that have already been developed.

There are four Zones that are currently being assessed which are:

City Centre West Zone

  • Sauchiehall Street
  • Bath Street / Berkley St

Hampden Zone

  • Caledonia Road
  • Aitkenhead Road
  • Cathcart Road

Pollok Zone

  • Crookston Road
  • Corkerhill Road
  • Barrhead Road

North East Area Zone

  • Royston Road
  • Cumbernauld Road
  • Gartloch Road
  • Auchinairn Road

Funding bids have been submitted to SPT to continue the development of the above Zones and undertake some implementation works in 2008/09.
