Reviews and Monitoring

Initial Review of Schemes

Background

As with any project, monitoring and evaluation is vital following implementation if the full benefits are to be realised. Due to the complex nature of traffic interaction this is particularly true of schemes involving changes in traffic management such as Streamline.

Due to the fact that there is always a settling in period following the introduction of any traffic management changes, the reviews of the corridors do not commence until at least six months following completion.

Process

The process for undertaking the reviews is outlined below:-

  • Letters requesting feedback on the operation of the corridor are distributed to key stakeholders. The feedback received from these letters is collated and considered.
  • Site visits are undertaken at various times throughout the day to identify any issues.
  • Bus journey time data from BIAS is examined to identify points on the routes where delays are regularly occurring.
  • A report containing initial recommendations for amendments to the corridor is circulated to key stakeholders.
  • The comments received on the initial recommendations are summarised and considered.
  •  A list of final recommended amendments is produced
