Pontoons

Plantation Quay Pontoon

  • The new Plantation Quay Pontoon will become fully operational and available for bookings in October 2008.

River Clyde Broomielaw Pontoon

  • Due to the Broomielaw and Tradeston Quay Walls and Public Realm works, the Broomielaw Pontoon is out of use until early 2009.

A new pontoon has been installed on the River Clyde at Plantation Quay and becomes the second of five being considered by Glasgow City Council to encourage the use of the River Clyde and to create a waterbus service.

Benefits from the pontoon will include:
  • An increase with the number of boats on the river
  • The provision of improved facilities for existing users
  • Encourage alternative means of transportation
  • Provision of a prime facility for water-based activities.

It is hoped that with the introduction of this new pontoon we can regenerate interest in the Glasgow Harbour area and once again attract boats up the River Clyde to the City Centre.
