Navigation Past Bells & Millennium Bridges
With respect to air draft at Bells / Millennium Bridges:

  • Visitors can check the height of the tide when passing Yorkhill basin at the tide board at the entrance to the basin. This board gives the height of the tide at that moment above chart datum.
  • Subtract this reading from the bridge height (which is 8.36m above chart datum) and you have the clearance height at that moment in time.
  • If visitors require the bridges to be open, they must call 0141 946 5186 at least 8 hours in advance of their arrival or even at the time of their booking.

N.B The bridges cannot be opened in wind speeds of more than 20 mph.
