This policy reflects the commitment of the Council to maintain and develop high quality services for children and young people who have additional support needs. The policy outlines how this will be achieved through high expectations of all staff; strong working with partner agencies and a proactive relationship with parents and carers.
Accessibility Strategy 2004-2007 (375k) - SUBJECT TO REVIEW
The policy covers the authority’s approach to adaptations, staff development and the provision of support aids for children and young people who are disabled. This strategy document is complemented by the Accessibility Strategy Procedural Guidelines.
Additional Support for Learning (ASL) Policy (690k)
Glasgow City Council and Greater Glasgow Health Board welcomes the principles within the ASL Act and recognises fully discrete and joint statutory duties outlined in the Act. This policy outlines the general expectations within the Act and provides the framework in which Education Services, in collaboration as appropriate with its key partners, will deliver on its statutory duties.
Glasgow Code of Practice 2006
The Glasgow Code complements the ASL Policy by providing clear procedural guidance for education staff. The Code also includes 2 DVDs for use by education establishments:
- DVD 1 - provides illustrative examples of the range of practices across the city which are best suited to meet the full spectrum of additional support needs as now defined in legislation as well as appendices and further resources for staff
- DVD 2 - a training resource in Mediation
