Education Estate Strategy

Over the last 10 years, the council has spent circa £800m (capital equivalent) to radically improve the condition and quality of its school buildings.

In the past, when the council has closed schools it has built new ones, but in the current global financial climate it cannot afford to build new schools and nurseries.

Glasgow City Council consults in line with the requirements of the Schools Consultation (Scotland) Act 2010.

At Glasgow City Council’s Executive Committee Meeting on 8 September 2011 it was agreed to consult on:

Re-zoning of denominational education in the Darnley area.

Proposal
It is proposed that St Angela's Primary School should be associated with St Paul's High School and the catchment area of St Angela's Primary School's should be added to that of St Paul's High School.  Should the proposal be approved, children who are resident in the shared areas of St Angela's, St Vincent's and St Bernard's Primary Schools (who previously had the right to attend St Ninian's High School) would also be associated with St Paul's High School.
