The Education Resource Service (ERS) supports teaching and learning in all sectors of Education Services within Glasgow City Council. The service is provided by professional librarians who have specialist expertise and experience in the education sector.

ERS works closely with teachers, librarians and other professionals to provide a service which includes:

• maintaining collections of specially selected materials relevant to the 5-14 curriculum, pre5 curriculum and development needs of our users
• promoting and facilitating the development of information literacy skills for lifelong learning including ICT
• supporting the professional development of secondary school librarians, teachers and other staff working in education
• offering advice on the acquisition, organisation and use of resources in schools including electronic and web-based materials
• maintaining links with other relevant agencies in the fields of education/information
