Partnership Board
Education Services established their Partnership Board in March 1999 in support of the principles of the National Childcare Strategy. The Partnership Board is a cross sector, multi-agency body working together to develop a strategy for childcare in Glasgow.
The Partnership Board has adopted key principles, set criteria for grant allocation and has identified a development plan to ensure the delivery of good quality, affordable and accessible childcare.
Citywide audits of existing childcare provision have been carried out. These audits provide an overview of demand and supply within the city, identifying key issues around market operation and future development.
Local Childcare Forums
To support the work of the Glasgow Education/Childcare Partnership Board and to ensure that childcare interests across the city were recognized, the Partnership Board has developed 9 Local Childcare Forums.
These forums, established to reflect the membership of the Partnership Board, cover every area of the city and are more able to develop strategies, which address the needs of each local area.
This local input allows for more strategic planning across the city. Audits of childcare provision are underway across each of the forum areas and findings produced will link to the citywide audit of provision, carried out by Community Enterprise in Strathclyde.
