Placing Requests
Your child will normally transfer from primary school to secondary school at primary 7 stage between the ages of 11½ and 12½.
Your child’s primary school will be able to tell you the name of the secondary school to which your child would normally transfer. However, you have the right to make a placing request to attend any secondary school in Glasgow.
If you wish to transfer your child from a primary school in one sector; denominational or non-denominational; to a secondary school in the other sector, a placing request is required.
There are sound educational reasons for trying to ensure that the admission of children to school takes place at the start of a school session
How to make a placing request
If you wish to make a placing request you must complete an application form for each child involved.
Alternatively, application forms are available from:
Education and Social Work Services
Wheatley House
25 Cochrane Street

Phone: 0141 287 4641/4689
You can also apply online
Completed forms should be sent to Education Services by 2 February each year and you should inform the head teacher of your child’s primary school that you have made a placing request to another school.
