The aim of the course is to give students a comprehensive dance training based on the demands of the classical technique while extending the range of tuition to include Jazz, Contemporary, Creative movement, Modern, Tap & National dance as well as singing and drama |
Conditions of Entry
Pupils enter in August of S1, the stage in Scottish Education for transfer from Primary to Secondary school. There is a further entry point at S5 for a two year course aimed at students aged 16+.
In all cases, selection is by audition and interview which take place in February and March. The audition panel consists of representatives of the Scottish Ballet, the Dance School and the Department of Education. Candidates must also undergo an orthopaedic examination.
There is no charge for pupils whose parents are resident in the City of Glasgow. Those resident local authority areas outside Glasgow should consult their Directors of Education to determine whether their local authority will offer financial support. There is an outlay for clothing and equipment which is not met by the authority.
