Safety Education Resources

A variety of interactive learning techniques used to encourage, promote and practice good citizenship and safe behaviour.

Lives and Ladders

Lives and Ladders is an interactive safety game for P4 and P5 that gives an introduction to several safety education topics.  To advance around the giant board (based on snakes and ladders), children must answer safety-themed questions.  It is taken out to schools by Child Safety Assistants who play the game with pupils while the class teacher observes.  The game can also be booked for community events.

Strike It Safe

Strike It Safe is an interactive quiz based on a game show, available for use as part of a programme delivering safety education to elderly groups.  This resource has been developed in partnership with Pollok Police Community Division.

Safety Education Games Pack

The Safety Education Games Pack is a colourful box of board games and puzzles which has been designed to encourage children to enjoy learning about safety in and around the home.  Games in the pack include:

The Safety Net

Working alongside Greater Glasgow NHS Board, Education Services and Land Services (Road Safety Unit), this gateway web site has been developed for both teachers and pupils looking to access information on a variety of safety issues linked to the 5-14 curriculum.  The site is currently being developed to include topics for secondary pupils and teachers.

This DVD is a resource designed to be used in formal and informal education with children and young people aged 10-16 years old.  It has been distributed to all primary and secondary schools in Glasgow and in 10 other local authorities.  The DVD incorporates general acts of vandalism and vandalism to transport such as brick throwing, spray painting, 'dutch etching' and railway track obstructions.

'It's Jist for Protection' Knife Crime Drama Project

Aimed at reducing knife crime, this programme targets S2 pupils.  An interactive forum theatre workshop covers issues including peer pressure, gang culture, territorialism and consequences of actions.  The workshop and teacher's resource pack can be used to enhance and support the Education for Citizenship School Programme.
