Glasgow City Council organises many events throughout the year including:

  • The Great Scottish Run
  • The Lord Provost's Procession 
  • MayDaze
  • Christmas Lights Switch on
  • Hogmanay

Irrespective of which Service takes the lead in the planning process, usually Cultural & Leisure Service's Events Section, all relevant Council Departments and outside agencies including:

  • Emergencies Planning Unit
  • Strathclyde Police 
  • Strathclyde Fire Brigade 
  • The Scottish Ambulance Service
  • Glasgow NHS Board

 

The Emergencies Planning Unit chairs the Emergencies Services meetings, ensuring that a quick, effective response is available should an incident occur. 

It also manages the Joint Agencies Co-ordinating Centre (JACC) which co-ordinates the actions of the different agencies during the event.
