Flooding

Should you discover flooding in your area and consider it a risk to your own or any other property, contact the Emergency Services in the first instance by dialling 999 and asking for Fire & Rescue. The controller will assess the severity of the incident and dispatch the appropriate resources. Should the emergency services consider that assistance from Glasgow City Council is necessary, they will contact the Resilience and Safety Unit 24/7.

Flood Damaged Property

Glasgow City Council will endeavour to protect parts of Glasgow which are known to be vulnerable to flooding with pre-located sandbags during the winter months, thus giving Council Services a head start to the response should flooding occur.  A flood prevention scheme for the River White Cart is currently under construction.

If you are aware that you live in an area which is liable to flooding it is strongly recommended that you monitor the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency Flood Warnings webpage which can be found at: http://apps.sepa.org.uk/Floodwarnings/default.aspx Alternatively you can call the Floodline on 0845 988 1188.

You can find more information about areas of Glasgow and the rest of Scotland which are affected by flooding on the SEPA website: http://www.sepa.org.uk/flooding/flood_map.aspx
