Introduction
The provision of a road safety service is a statutory duty of local authorities in Great Britain, this includes education, training, publicity and engineering schemes.
Glasgow City Council’s Land Services has a dedicated unit which provides this service to all Glasgow Citizen’s. The Road Safety Unit are committed to achieving or going beyond the casualty reduction figures set by the Government for the year 2010.
The Unit works closely with other local authorities, Police and external agencies in an attempt to ensure a co-ordinated approach to road safety provision.

Road Safety West of Scotland
Road Safety West of Scotland is made up of representatives from all 12 Local Authorities which embraces a diverse mix of urban and rural areas. The group also includes Representatives from Strathclyde Police, Strathclyde Safety Camera Partnership and Strathclyde Fire and Rescue.
