Driver Assessment

The Road Safety team at Glasgow City Council can advise individuals and businesses in all aspects of driver education.

Why should you have your driving assessed?

The assessment is designed to help you continue driving for longer and safely especially in today's increasing traffic conditions.  By offering this constructive approach to help driver-safety, we believe this is a benefit in the aim of reducing road casualties.

Who should attend?

Drivers who have been driving for a number of years and have received no further professional driver training since passing the test.  High mileage drivers, sales representatives, service engineers.  Those drivers who lack confidence, recovering from illness or injury and drivers with a poor accident record.

What does the assessment offer?

This is not a test but an enjoyable and confidential assessment of your driving, building on your experience with driving tips, techniques and advice.  At the conclusion of the session a comprehensive report will be issued.

Where are the assessments held?

The assessments can be arranged to accommodate your requirements using a fully equipped driving school vehicle.  The scheme is managed by Road Safety Officers and the assessment will be conducted by a Driving Standards Agency Approved Driving Instructor.

The benefits

We strongly believe our driver training will deliver:-

  • Reduced accident risk
  • Lower vehicle running costs
  • Improved Road Safety

In excess of 95% of road crashes involve human error so there is clearly scope for addressing the scale of the problem through driver education/training.

How much does it cost?

The assessment costs £25
