Amber Means Stop!

The Go Safe Glasgow Road Safety Partnership has launched a campaign to highlight the issue of motorists failing to stop at amber and red lights.

Last year 83 road users were injured, some seriously, due to drivers contravening traffic signals.  Some drivers seem to think it is OK to accelerate through amber rather than approach the signals at an appropriate speed and prepare to stop.

The clear message the partnership wants to communicate to drivers is that Amber Means Stop!

The partnership has also produced a leaflet to remind drivers of some of the other ‘forgotten’ rules of the road.

The campaign which began with filming junctions throughout April will continue into May and will include strict enforcement by marked and unmarked police vehicles.
