Vocational Education


 

Glasgow’s Vocational Education (GVE) Offers:

 

• A vocational programme to young people of school age that provides pupils with the opportunity to access certificated vocational training awards as an additional choice in the curriculum.

 

• Support to young people to progress to a positive post school option.

 

• A range of activities and programmes for unemployed adults and Glasgow City Council employees. 

Vocational Education Whilst at School

 


S3/S4 Mainstream Programmes is open to all young people in S3 and S4 across the city

Supported Vocational Programme is open to young people with additional support needs

Enhanced Vocational Inclusion Programme is open to young people who respond better to education in a different setting

Upper School offers in-school and out of school courses and activities open to S5 and S6 young people



More Choices More Chances/16+ Learning Choices

 



MCMC is the Scottish Government Strategy to reduce the proportion of young people who are not in Education, Employment or Training.


16 + Learning Choices is working to ensure school leavers are offered further learning opportunities.

 

Learning Opportunities for Adults

 



School Gates aims to increase employment and enterprise support for non working parents in and around their children’s schools.

National Training Programmes Get Ready for Work is for young people aged 16-19 and Training for Work is for people over the age of 18 who have been continuously unemployed for 13 weeks.

Lifelong Learning Programme is aimed at providing guidance and support for Glasgow City Council employees wanting to return to Learning.

Workplace Literacies Project assists Glasgow City Council employees who are in need of support with their workplace literacy or numeracy skills.

Blairvadach Residential Outdoor Education Centre is Glasgow City Council's main outdoor education centre.

Duke of Edinburgh Award gives young people an opportunity to learn skills and develop personal qualities through a range of chosen activities.
